I was searchin the web and found Skyjacker 1 inch coil spring spacers, thinking about getting them b/c I already have Plow springs and im running 275/70R18's (33x11) stock conti's on Lariat wheels. With this setup I have around 7 inches or so of space between the top of the tire and the bottom of the wheel well up front.
If I put the spacers on the front, maybe an AAL in the rear if need be, I think I could possibly run and clear 35's. I dont really want to put a 2.5" kit on and go through the trouble of the Trac Bar bracket and Alignment cams, Im going to be putting new shocks on the truck within the next month or so (at 50K miles) and figured it would be a good time to put the spacer in.
I plan on running Bilstein HD Shocks F&R.
Anyone else like to chime in and give opinions? I'd greatly appreciate it.
The hight is not your problem, the space at the rear and front of the tire is what you will hit during turning. Check your clearances on the front and rear and add an inch as if my memory serves me you gain about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch on both sides if you raise it an inch. Good luck and let us know how it comes out.
yea im more concerned about the back of the tire than the front. I definately dont have a height issue, i measured it today and its more like 8-8.5"s of clearance between tire and fender up front.
got my spacers this morning, took not quite an hour and a half, my truck looks exactly how I wanted it to, the wheel well measurements are exactly the same. Next week I get my alignment. Ill try and get pics of my truck later this weekend.
In the mean time i've been looking at tires and sizes, I think im gonna go with a 295/65R18 (33x12) and im really leaning towards getting the new Goodyear Wrangler Dura Trac.. they look like a cross between a MT and an AT.
If you want to run 35's I think you will have some issues with rubbing using the 1" spacers. I realize you don't want to go to all the trouble of the 2.5" but sometimes that is what it will require. Go with the 295/65's for now.
If you purchase the 35's in the future and you had clearence issues would you drive it like that, sell and purchase a smaller tire or raise it more?
sometimes when upgrading our trucks we want to have our cake and eat it too. typically Not the case.
im pretty much throwing the 35's idea in the trash. Yes it would prolly look better BUT in the long run its going to save me money... mainly cost of tires and gas. I actually like the way it looks with the 275 conti's on it, but I think the 295's will be just wide enough to give it a better stance. anything is better than those POS conti's i cant wait to get them off there, for some reason my back tires are losing tread faster and faster
