Its a device that locks both front wheels together when in really bad mud, snow etc. Normally the front diff must be left open or normal 4x4 where only 1 wheel is pulling. This way you can still turn the truck a little. However, with both wheels locked you should be able to go much better. Eaton makes these for many applications but i'm not sure on the F250 due to the front end weight.
yep this is the same except its in the front. I'm hoping to have the switch wired into the upfitter switches. That would be really cool. Just put the truck in Neutral and flip a switch. She should climb a tree then.
I just found out that Eaton makes an electric locker for the front. Not cheap as it comes in around $800 then you have to get it installed. I'm sure it would turn these trucks into a tank off road though.
Ok next question is what front axle does the 2008 F250 have? Is it a 8.8? I was trying to find which locker i needed but Eaton list several different axle choices and i'm not sure which axle the new trucks have in the front.
Dana60 front, sterling 10.25 inch rear I believe. The lockers are not going to be cheap, but would be a heck of a mod for wheelin. remember, this is a heavy truck, when stuck, you need a big truck to pull her out.
the stuck part is what i'm worried about. I'm hoping the locker will get me out of some situations. The down side is you can get more stuck if not careful when using it. In other words it better get you out cause if not your really down in the muck.
I just discovered Eaton makes their electric locker for the Dana 60. Can I run the wiring to the upfitter switches to activate the unit? This would be SO SWEET!
