possible torque converter problem?

applying brake, slowing down to make a turn, make the turn ,when going back to accellerate there is a delay from the time the motor actually accellerates until the time the power transfers to the rear wheels. there is a little jerk when the power is finally transfered to the rear wheels. could this be the torque converter or the rear differential? or what?

I would think with that amount of miles on it(relatively low),it could be either rear end,or tranny. I dont think that torque converters on these beauties have any "issues" .I had pretty much the same problem on my 97 4.2,auto LWB,and started looking to find answers as well.Ive known for some time,I had a small tranny fluid leak, but over complicated the issue...checked the fluid level and it was about 1.5 quarts down... replenished the fluid, and problem went away.It sounds like you may be loosing fluid pressure, and it may not be a bad time to replace the filter.
Wish I could give some more in-depth answer, but im not a tranny expert by any means..

You need to change the fluid in the transmission.

Thats kinda why I just mentioned filter change...IF it were me,I would drop the pan, drain whats there, replace the filter, and gasket, and replace what you need to....Im not too keen on the flush...Im sure its good in some circumstances, but after the 100,000 mile mark im not so sure its a good idea

You can do it youreself..it can be knida messy, but the filter/gasket,and fluid are readily available at any auto parts store. If you elect to indeed do it yourself,be sure to know the pan bolt torque specs, and be sure to not overtighten....

Yeah, NEVER replace that pan gasket with anything other than another identical factory gasket. Its the only one you can get that will never leak as long as you don't damage it.

Use the transmission's pump to change the fluid for you. Look in the articles tab for 4r100/E4OD fluid change guide. It's basicly the same thing for a 4r70w except use Mercon V.

I disconnect the return line from the tow package cooler to get the fluid out. If you want to change the filter, just do it after you have pumped out the pan and haven't refilled yet.

This method should get almost all of the fluid changed.
