i also loaded up the ASE and it was great for a couple days. my boost stayed at about 26psi, EGT's climbed pretty quickly but that's to be expected. after a couple days though my truck started to surge under about 75% to WOT. just thought that was weird. it doesn't do it with the stock tune in.
It might be your EGR valve cycling.
Mine did the same thing even with stock programing. After EGR blocked no problems, even my EGT's do not rise very much more than Stock.
You may try un-plugging your EGR as an experiment, you may not throw codes with the SCT tuner. Running stock you will for sure throw codes.
with a tune in it will the turbo go to default or will it continue to operate normally with the EGR unplugged? will i need to have a tune written with the egr disabled?

I am running Spartins archived tunes and I was told there is a EGR disable/delay feature written in it.
My Turbo is not into Safe Mode Default, still boosting 30PSI, Turbo still back pressure farting.
How it works is, the Custom Tunes only limits the EGR function to rarely/barely opening the valve. There is no way to completely disable the EGR function (thank you EPA and Ford) so I would do the EGR Blocker plate with the up-pipe scoop removed.
Leave the EGR Cooler and the EGR plugged in....
This is how mine is done and the performance is awesome with a total
Factory apperance (still under warrenty I hope).
Keep posting with your results....
