I want to power a new USB cable in my '11 F250. My initial thought was I could use one of my upfitter aux switches but I don't want to have to switch it on/off... I'd prefer to have the cable power switched with the ignition so the aux switch seems to be the wrong route. I know where the Sync module is in an F150 but not in my F250 - depending on the location in my truck this may be easiest as I think I could simply add a y-connector (as I found somebody had done in their F150). Next would be??? The USB cable can have either a regular USB connection (like you'd plug into your computer) or it can be an AC connector on the end. The cable needs 9 watts, 1.8 amps, 5 volts.
How/where should this electrically challenged person wire up a new USB cable? I don't want to tie up any of the existing (factory) USB or AC outlets.
Do you actually need a separate outlet? If not, why not just get a usb "power strip" (for lack of a better word) that plugs into your usb outlet and has multiple usb connections on it.
Plenty of multi-port USB Power connectors available that plug into the cigarette lighter power port that take care of the voltage conversion. Almost any fuel station has them at the check out counter.

I'd like the cord completely hidden. If I have to go your route I can - just not my preference.
Anker is about the best of the conventional answers to this problem. Way better than the nameless Chinese crap you can buy in any gas station or convenience store.
