I have to install a flashing/beacon light on my truck for work to be able to have access to certain areas. What kind of mounts are people using? I want to mount it behind the cab in the center of the truck. And I want to hard wire the electrical into a switch on the dash and hide the wire somewhere. I have to drive in a parking garage quite often at the jobsite and my truck only clears by about 2.5" now so I can't just set the light on top of the truck. I was thinking about some kind of T-post secured to the box. Any ideas are appreciated.
If the light has to be visable above the roof line and you need to remove it in the parking garages you can magnetic mount it to a plate on top of the T,hinge the post. Hiding the wiring is the easy part, run the cable down inbetween the bed and the cab, along the frame rails and into the cab from underneath.
I have one that I use when I plow, it is magnetic with a Cig adaptor on the end. I just cut the wires and hard wired it to a switch on the dash, But I can still remove it when I go through the car wash or garage. Got mine off of ebay...
i have the light - work gave it to me. i was just looking for mounting ideas. how do i hard wire it - where do i get the power from? run it to the fuse box?
you can pull the power from the batt terminal and install your own fuse in line. I run a 8ga. wire to juction box made for semi trailer wiring everthing is covered, stud posts for acc. and sealed openings for wires. This gives me a supply source for all my acc. lights, cb, air compressor, aux. fuel pump. anything you want and it has room for breakers instead of fuses which automaticallly reset in a short or overload

Where did you purchase this box, I'll have to do some research 'cause it sounds like a fantastic idea.
make a slide bar flat on top, bolt to bed or to fit in pocket on bed,you can raise or lower
it or remove as needed, wire as ,flamebuster said good to go,
good luck,

I have not used it in the application mentioned by flamebuster, but I would assume you could mount it under the dash somewhere. Should be about to mount it just about anywhere that is convenient.
As for breakers, the one I have linked there doesn't have a dedicated place for breakers IIRC. You can easily place a fuse in there though. There is plenty of room in the box.
Bought mine at Napa auto parts under juction boxes there used at midpoint and the rear of trailers where the wires divide to turn, brake and clearance lights. Several styles to choose from (different outlet locations and some are just stud posts for wire cinnections and there are ones that have a row of breakers instead of stud posts.) if you don't like the amperage of the breaker they are removable and install the size you need. Love these boxes.......

Got it! I'll check out Napa. I'm looking to add aux. lights, markers, and a cb and this seems like an easy way to power everything off from one spot.
Napa carries a 6 fuse panel that uses a number 10 stud that you can run an 8 guage wire too. thats what we install in fleet vehicles. stay away from auto resetting circuit breakers cause if a device fails and trips the breaker it needs user service for a reason. I have seen many rigs burn down from auto reset breakers. the panel is like 30 bucks from napa otherwise we carry em for 24 and ill even throw in the studd to crimp to wire and a rubber boot to cover the stud lol. just my advice. just use a mag mount light or a drop pin mount for a single strobe when ya need it. its cheaper and you can wire to a switch for when you need it on. you can find various connectors to connect the strobe. if you do go mag mount make sure its rated for highway speeds
