I recently purchased and installed Office 2007 to replace an earlier version.
I have a couple spreadsheets that have more than one page and when I open them up, all I can see is the first tab. The others aren't there. It also says Compatibilty Mode.
If I run the convert program it converts it to the new .xlsx file format and I completely lose the other tabs.
Is there any way to open the files in 2007 that will maintain the full spreadsheet? This is really starting to **** me off.
I've already downloaded all the Service Packs and the Compatibility Pack. All I need to do is convert my files without loosing any data.
Yeah, I'm pretty stumped too. I'm usually pretty good with this kind of stuff but this has me scratching my head. It seems like it should be a very easy process but for whatever reason, 2007 doesn't like the spreadsheets with more than one tab.
I use 2007 at my base and I have to convert from '07 to earlier versions all the time and have never had a problem except for some minor formatting changes. This is really annoying though.
I can wait until he comes along.....I hate to bug people with this kind of stuff. I could probably do a Google search and find it but what fun is that?
The problem with the cut and paste method is that I can't open the file with the old version which is now uninstalled. The new version will open the file in compatibility mode but with only the front tab. The rest of the workbook is gone. If I convert the file to 2007, it only converts the front tab.
Fortunately I have my files backed up on another machine and was able to recover the data. But, I have 2007 installed now on my primary home machine and it is driving me crazy that I can't use the new version.
I appreciate the help.
It should work ok, I move back and forth frequently. You might want to make a few copies and play around. Don't have any ideas because it works for me.
Compatibility mode just means that it knows that it's reading an earlier version.
You can 'save as' earlier versions (97-03 I think), which is what I do. I think that the xlsx files are xml, and I see no reason to go there.
Off topic - what do you think of the 'ribbon' interface ? I personally despise it, and have it turned off (as much as I can). I would have gotten 03 if it was still available.

What was the old version?? 2000, XP, 2003
What is the new version?? Student/Teacher, Standard, Professional, Ultimate, Small biz...
Another thing.... Are these just simple spreadsheets or do they contain macros or other special items??
