I have only used Sea Foam in gas engines. I run it through a vacuume hose which pulls it directly into the combustion chambers. It cleans the rings and valves pretty good. I would not add it to the oil or fuel. I would not use it on my diesel.

SEA FOAM goes into the fuel to clean the injectors it also can be put into the oil before an oil change to clean the rings and other internal engine parts. This is just some excerpts from there web site.
