It's fiber optic cable to your house, so I don't know why a tower would be required. Except to get the signal to the mountain, just like cable TV.
I don't like being an early adopter, but I may give this a try. I'm a Charter customer, and they are going BK11, which is okay except they don't have some channels I want and the cable boxes suck. The DVR box is pretty good though.
The FIOS has a DVR box where you just have one, and all the TV's in the house can watch what is recorded on it. I like that idea.
I won't switch my phone though. I like the copper line.

They never are, but what you've got there is fast. About 4 times faster than a T-1 line down, and a little faster than T-1 up. Your ping times are pretty good too. Nothing wrong with that.

That is what the Verizon store up here told me was the issue with us not having it yet. Who knows? All I know is I have a smoking deal with a bundle of the DSL and home phone for 25/month combined. Too bad Charter up here had us at 109/month for digital cable.

Remember the fiber ends at the hub outside your house. As I understood the guy when he came here. They run the fiber in the street and from say the side walk to the TV it's still copper. Sure you get higher speed but really not true fiber until you run it in the home.$$$ And they will run HDMI cables from box to TV but as i said still lots of copper.

As I understand it, just from the web site, the fiber is already strung down the street. When you order, they run fiber from the street to a demarkation box on the side of your house. Usually where your phone already enters. Mine comes in underground. So it's fiber all the way to your house, but of course not inside your house. I think they can use all my existing coax for the TV. Steve's got me thinking about the internet now, but I need to know more about their router. I have my own network setup here and I don't want anything from them except 1 router, and it has to be compatible with my own router.
