I have no idea what this means, but here goes. This is based upon the speedtest.net
4900 down
314 up
70 ms ping
100 mile
This tells me you have cable internet. Pretty good speed down, not so great up.
But it's all relative really. My DSL is only 768k down, and 128 up, and I'm happy enough with it, for $18/mo. But I would like better uploads. Sending emails with big attachments is too slow. Downloads are good enough and most sites can't deliver it much faster than that anyway.
My DSL already comes from Verizon, but I buy it through a 3rd party.
Yes. Bill I do have cable from Charter. I am tired of paying the money that I pay, so I may start shooping around for something else. What does the 70 ms ping mean?
Brady, you're on some serious speed. Cable often beats anything else, but you can't beat the stability of a T line.
I guess I should have updated you all. I ordered it last Monday, but due to scheduling issues I put the installation out in mid March. I ordered TV only for now. I'm sure they will beg me to add internet later and make me an offer I can't refuse.
Right now I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to have to do to get a power outlet into the closet where I want the power unit installed - and to make sure I don't need an outside outlet. Their web site says you do, but Steve said he didn't and a photo journal I found online said you didn't either. But you do need one inside where the battery backup is located.
I think I'm just going to let the guy come out and do his thing and use an extension cord. Don't want to install an outlet and find out it's in the wrong place. I heard of some dipstick doing that, one time.
some times i wish these people would let you run the wires your self before they guy shows up to plug in the different boxes. that way you dont end up with a bunch a ugly wires running on the out side of your house.
