Replacing Dash Lights?????

One of the lights has gone out in my gauge cluster. Anyone know where I can download directions on how to do it?

Thanks
Brian

Not much to download. You'll need the U-shaped clips to remove the radio. They're about $2 for a set at the local auto parts store. Remove the radio and unplug the wires/antenna. There are 2 small screws above the radio pointing up that you can loosen, but you don't have to (I always forget to do this). Pry out the headlight switch and unplug those wires, then pull the upper dash panel. The dash has those snap clips, so it simply unsnaps. It's easier to grab the hole where you removed the headlight switch and start pulling from there, then just work your way around. Then remove the screws holding the instrument cluster in place so you have access to the back side where you can replace your bulb.

Replace ALL the bulbs while your in there. You have the instrument cluster out, and if one is burning out, most likely the other however many will start burning out too. Better to start out with all new ones. Just my $.02

I was on my way to the store to get new dash lights when it dawned on me, I have an aftermarket radio that I did not install. Its a Pioneer Nav unit, is there any change the same tool will remove that radio too?

Well lI got the Gauge cluster out, but I can't get the bulbs out, I tried rotating left and right and pushing in on them when turning. The Guy at Advanced Auto said there is no special tool to get the Bulbs out. Any thoughts?

Agreed. I did only the few that were burned out a few months ago and now the rest are burned out. Even though they are $3.99 per 2 pack.

Funny you should mention the Pioneer, I did not even have to remove it, They took the factory harnes out and just fabricated pieces to bolt it to the inner dash. I did get the bulbs out with a pair of pliers... I replaced them all..

Thanks for all the advice..

"194 LL" is the part number at Autozone. They are Sylvania bulbs.

No. The colors on the instrument panel are part of it. The bulbs themselves are standard 194 bulbs. You'd need to find one of those replacement instrument covers that have different colors.

Dont know if any of you have seen or done this but I thought I'd share it with you. I read this on another forum and thought it looked cool so I tryed it, I took my gauges out and removed the black face plate. If you try this it is glued to the plastis base be careful not to tear the plastic. I used a hair dryer and a rasor blade to cut the glue as I went. After removing the black face turn it over and there is a green coating covering the #'s lightly scratch off the coating. By doing this and checking as you go you can see the #'s turn white. That is what you are after. Next I removed the 5 #194 light bulbs and installed LED lights that are blue in color, have to get a part # if you are interested. I havent found a light bulb for the smaller ones yet, but I'm still looking. My dash may be different than the newer ones (99.5'- 03') but should get you in the right area. Im not very good at writing stuff like this. Also I wasnt thinking or I would have took more pics but each dash may be different.

Standard 194's, no they aren’t, or at least in my 02 F-350’they aren’t. You tell me though, one on the left is a standard 194 but in LED, the one on the right was just removed from the dash of my 02 F-350. Just left Napa and matched the bulb with an NLG70. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
