Do a search on saginaw powersteering pump swaps. I had a whining and puking Ford pump in my 94 truck that I swapped out with a used Saginaw style pump from a 94 Clubwagon and it wasn't that hard. This pump is stronger and quieter and its fairly straight forward. I highly recommend this swap if your pump needs replacing.
I second BCHauler on the Saginaw swap. When my PS pump bites the dust I am replacing it with a Saginaw. The Saginaw swap does not look to tough either. A straight replacement of the stock pump is super easy. You will need a power steering pump pulley puller/installer, a lot of autoparts stores rent them. Make sure you get one that installs the pulley in addition to pulling it. DO NOT hammer it on. Below is a link to the tool I own, it cost about $60.
Uh, ya I think my pump needs replaced now, I have no powersteering at all. Last she worked, she wined and then just blew or something cause its a chore steering now.
Check the seal at the pitman arm, when these leak it will empty the ps pump pretty fast. The seal kit is like 20 bucks takes about an hour to change because u have to pull the pitman arm. Once u do theres a snapring u remove then put a lil fluid in and turn the steering wheel to full right and it pops rite out
my pitman arm seal went along time ago, I just drove it around and after it sat I'd always made sure it had steering fluid. So does it sound like a new pump or more/less to it?
