Does anyone have any pros and cons about the (advanced FLOW filter )?
I know K&N is the most popular, but I decided on the AFE
I just bought this filter but yet to install. If you own this filter and have installed it on your powerstroke what are the results in noise and over all performance?
Almost all air filters are the same. Some may flow better on the flow bench, but it means almost nothing in real power. I read a "Car Craft" magazine article where they tested all popular filters, everything from paper, to K&N, to Barry Grant Rush filters, to oiled foam filters. Some flow up to 80% better on the flow bench, yet when installed on a 360 HP Pontiac 400, they entire spread was 3.6 HP at the rear wheels. I don't even remember which one made the most power, but it sure doesn't matter. I'll tell you this, the paper was not the worst of the bunch.
Take that thing back to the store, and save your money. I have owned a K&N for 3 years, and let it silently kill my engine with overwhelming silica in the oil, which K&N's won't stop. I tried hard to love it, as would anybody who spent $40 on an air filter. Good thing they have a million mile warrany, mine's going back to the store along with my piece of junk short block. TK

I agree torqueking,I`ve decided to quit using my K&N too.I`ll just go back to using a fram paper filter approved for my vehicle rather than an unapproved p.o.s like the K&N.Like alot of guys on this board,I`ve bought in to all the bs about additives, magnets and hi-perf air filters. But now I`m going back to basics, its cheaper and safer for your vehicle.
