looks like im going to have to get my paint on my truck touched up this summer.i dont have mud flaps on my truck, and from not having this my fender corners front and back are losing there paint down to the steel, and my up on top around my cab lights there are water bubbles under the paint.does any body have this same problem?and what should i exspect to pay to have this done?im thinking about having a different tone done around the truck below the door stripping.
I have not personally seen this issue. The bubbles in the paint indicate the metal is rusting from the inside out. Not a good thing. Cost can vary a lot based on the shop, quality of materials & workmanship, color of paint. Whites are cheapest, reds are most expensive. I would get a few estimates.
must be that the cab lights are letting water it? but i plan on having this truck for a while seeing that i got a 5 year loan on it.I want to take care of this stuff so i dont have a pile of rust in 2 years.
I currently have a issue myself with rusting from the inside out thing. I have it over my rear wells halfway up the curve on the backside on both sides. When I bought this truck it was 3 years old and had the "bubles under the paint in this area" I had it repaird at a body shop, they cut it out and spot welded in a new piece. (dealer paid for this repair as a condition of the purchase). Then within 1 year it came back in the same place. I took to to a repair shop once again and Ford paid for this repair under their 5 yr 100k mile rust thru wrrty. So they also opened it up replaced a big area of metal etc and it looked great for 1 year once more. Happy again.. Now im out of warranty, have the same rusted spots, and I will not pay to get it repaired again. There is a cronic problem here. Body shop guy said I should replace the bed or side panels... yea right (3k). Seems i have been noticing a lot of trucks with this same area of rust. Seems it must have been a design flaw, looks like it traps waters inbetween the panels. So you better check the wheel wells too for bubbles, if you have them this it whats to come... I may just put nice fender flares over it to cover it up for a few yrs.. hope this helps jeff
I also have the bubble spot on the wheel wells. Just found it Saturday when I washed it. I also have another stop by the bottom side of cab behind the supercab door. That one is down to the metal.

Both those spots are chronic bad spots on almost all trucks. Especially in the salt, er snow, belt areas. Bottom of doors also. The fenders hold all the salt and snow up in the fender well and up in that cab corner. Nature of the beast unfortunately. On doors all the water and salt that makes it inside the doors sits in those spots and does not dry out as fast as the exterior and leads to rust there sooner also.
