Here we have a dilemma; you cannot dictate how many children one family can have- that would be China-esque. You can't advocate her having 14 children- that would be just plain dumb. You cannot take away the children, she has broken no laws. You can't sit back and watch those children suffer, it isn't their fault that their mother is an idiot. There are several issues in play with this scenario. I have no idea where my opinion will ultimately fall; probably on the doctor who allowed this to happen. Maybe HE should foot the bill for the 8 newborns??

A family is one thing - A single 32 year old mother of 6 (all IVF) should absolutely be denied another IVF procedure, IMO.

Now she's a 33 yr old single mother of 14 who plans on using money from student loans to raise her children until she starts working again.

Sure you can put a limit to how many children. Outlaw how many kids you can have on IVT if your unemployed.

I sadly say stand back for a few months, and when she goes broke and the kids health is jepordized then take them away. I know it sounds cruel, but a couple of months of malnourshiment and poverty is 10x better than having to live a lifetime with that crazy woman.

I think the bigger dilemma for her is how to keep the public assistance in light of the lucrative book deals, TV appearances, toy/doll/game royalties, donations, etc. coming her way. If I understand welfare correctly, wouldn't these sources of income disqualify her? If so, she may be the tall hog at the trough for a while, but when her fifteen minutes of fame fades and some of these sources dry up, those medical bills, rent, etc. take on a whole new meaning. I wonder if she knows how much her diaper bills alone will cost? Look for the new Nadya Suleman bobble head doll at a store near you soon.

Kinda sounds like something must have rubbed off on her, while working in that mental hospital!

She'll have to actually file them as income before the wheels of government recognizes she is not elligible any more. Didn't she bilk over $100,000 from an on-the-job back injury from years past until just a few months ago? Great example she's setting for her kids.

forget what i said about you californians having to foot the bill, she is seeking online donations

Octuplets' mom seeks online donations - CNN.com
Octuplets' mom seeks online donations
The Web site features pictures of a rainbow, child's blocks and all eight of Suleman's newborns. Also prominently displayed on the Web site is a prompt for visitors to make a donation, noting that the "proud mother of 14" accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and PayPal.

Suleman, 33, had the octuplets through fertility treatments, despite already having six young children and no clear source of income

She's obviously quite comfortable lying about her income and how she benefits from welfare.

Who is going to watch the 14 kids while she's at work? What job will pay her enough to afford supporting 14 kids and also pay for childcare? Some will donate because of the babies but that will eventually run out. And you know the PR firm handling this is taking their cut!

Anybody heard what her career plan is yet?

She's going back to school to get her master's degree in counseling and take it from there. She is planning on donations/student loans (which she already has racked up $50K of) to take care of the kids with.

I don't know why people are making such a big deal of this. It's been going on since LBJ and many families have been living on the dole for multiple generations. She is only doing what our society has taught her to do.

We do the same for illegal aliens who pop out kids when they cross the border.

If you want change, then change the people who make these stupid laws. Don't blame the people taking advantage of them.

You are wrong, FF, about Californias taxpayers footing the bill. The tax payers in States that have not overspent are now going to pay for Californias excesses. So there`s no problem.
