03 Expedition Door Q's

Hey guys...
i just yesterday bought for my wife a beautiful white expedition eddie bauer. she loves it...the problem i have is with exterior door handle. it doesnt "snap" back to the original position like the other doors. is there a spring inside the door that is accessable or anything else? it works to open the door, it just isnt perfect. thanks for the help in advance...

Yep, there's a spring on the door handle, it's obviously busted. If I were you I'd just go pick another handle up at a junk yard.

The spring is built into the handle itself and not on the linkage within the door, so you do have to replace the whole handle.

is there any way to fix it? i looked for about 6 months to find a white new body style expedition...i dont know where i would find one in a junk yard. the dealer i bought from said the white on white eddie bauers are very rare?? the door still works, its just not perfect. any help of how to fix or where i could purchase one would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Well if the option is a complete new assembly there is nothing to lose by trying a little spray and pray. Send some WD40 in there!!

I'm not sure about your 03, but here's what the spring looks like off a 2000. You may be able to make one, check out a hardware store , they may carry some springs that you might be able to modify to work.

thanks for the pics...i think the door handles are totally different, but if it needs to be removed anyway, i may just try to get a spring or fix it. thanks alot for the pics...
