Hoping that someone here can help me figure out why my truck keeps overheating. It only dose it when I pull a trailer, it dosen't even have to be a heavy load. If I am pulling and try to go faster than 55 or 60 it will overheat. At first we thought it was the fan clutch and we went ahead and did fan clutch, water pump, thermastat, and hoses. that didn't do the trick though. Mechanic is thinking it might be tranny or turbo problems. any suggestions?
I was going to say water pump, since 99.9% of all overheating problems come from there, but since you replaced it....... and the thermostat, and the fan clutch.... hmmmm. The cooling system on these trucks is built for massive overkill.
Sounds silly, but you don't have anything stuck behind the grill do you?
Turbo problems would just cause EGT spikes, loss of power, and tons of smoke. Transmission problems wouldn't overheat the engine.

Who are these people! A tranny over heating an engine alone with a turbo? I'm not very smart but these guys call them selfs mechanics? I would defently come here before my truck sees a mechanic.
