Hey, I have a 1965 F100 Twin I Beam with a 352 V8 and i was wondering how many gallons the stock gas tank held which goes behind the seat?

 

For some reason the number 16 sticks in my head for the total...

 

Just filled mine up last week and think it was 15.64 gal so 16 sounds pretty good

 

The manual for my 65 f100 states it has 18 gallon tank.

 

I belive its 19.2 Gal.

Only about 16-17 is usable. The balance is sludge space!

 

It all depends on which fuel tank the truck has.

Originally, 1961/66's (and 1967/69's) came with an 18 gallon in cab fuel tank: C1TZ-9002-H.

In 1970, Ford obsoleted the 18 gallon tank, replaced it with the 1970 (1971/72) tank (DOTZ-9002-A) which is 19.5 gallons for use as a service part replacement.

So if a Ford dealer or PO replaced the original tank after 1969, it could be 19.5 gallons.

I've put 17.3 in my 63 F600 gauge just off empty

Maybe your tank has been changed.

1957/60 F100/500 = 17 gallons.

This is the only in-cab fuel tank listed in the 1957/63 & 1964/72 truck parts catalogs that is less than 18 gallons.

And the weather has something to do with it.

When the weather is hot (90 degrees +), I doubt I could get more than 17 gallons in my 1965 in-cab 18 gallon tank...which IS the original tank, cuz I bought the truck brand new.

 

Thanks Bill, it was in the low twentys when I filled it...In any case, sounds like I was close to walking There is an aux tank on the frame rail of the truck, smells like varnish, I need to drain and clean that out so I have some backup.
