I'm picking up a '69 E200 for cheap (free). Just curious if there are a range of years that I could get an automatic steering column out of as I will be removing the 3 speed for a c4/c6. Also, is there any low budget brake upgrades (spindle swaps) or what not for a disc conversion up front? Any help is appreciated.
Was surprised to see 1 of the old Econolines recently in a U-Pull here in north FL. Hadn't seen 1 anywhere else for years. To bad you don't like Three on the Tree. Maybe after you pick it up, it will grow on you?
I looked into converting my '70 E100 to disc brakes, back in the late 70's & gave up on the idea. Pretty sure if I could've grabbed what's needed from another FORD & bolt it up, I'd have done it. Sold it in '81 & the money rented a U-Haul truck. Sure it can be done, less confident it can be done "low budget" or is economically feasible for a "cheap (free)" 40 year old Econoline. What's the body like?
Ever look at Hemmings Motor News? Its been the bible for classic cars & restoration. There's just about every automotive specialty in the universe advertised in there. I'd try some of the brake & antique FORD parts specialists.
Think I've still got a Chilton manual, maybe an owner manual.

I am getting the truck for scrap price cause the owner wants to get rid of it. Truck has been in a garage for the last 18 years, has not been driven in 34-35 years. After reading some other threads I think i'll leave it be for now and just enjoy the old van.
Mileage is around 60k. Body is in real good shape. Limited rust since we're in the south. Always sat on pavement with inflated tires, never in the grass/mud and was pushed into garage about 18 years ago. Surprisingly there is almost no sign of rodent infestation.
