I said if you couldn't get there, since you can get there you won't have any issues. I wouldn't try doing the work that I do in my Protege. It'd kill the car in about the first 5 minutes.

I doubt it would even move yet alone attempt to do anything.
ok will do figured that kinda went with spark and fuel but ok! I may even to a compression test for the hell of it. Depands on how I feel. And if I get it running I'll steal the boost gauge out of the MSP and see what it says.
Well orng1 the only way I know to fix the timing is to replace the timing set. To check it I would just bump the motor to top dead center and see if the rotor is pointing near the number 1 spark plug wire if not time to replace the timing set.
Have good spark and the plug indicate that is running extremely lean. The cap and rotor looks shot so I'm going to give that a shot. I'm unable to check the fuel pressure. I cant get a hold of a gauge, and Im not 100% to sure how to use one doesn't help either. lol
KOEO Test
172 - HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean (right side)
212 - Loss of IDM input to EEC or SPOUT circuit grounded.
542 - Fuel pump circuit failure circut failure
Ill second the timing chain check as my truck ran the same way when the chain went. The fuel pressure guage is easy its just like screwin on a valve stem cap on the tires.
Hey StealthWyvern, I've been doing some googling, and something that it could be is the $6 fuel pump relay. Have you tried that yet?
It could be that the relay is becoming flaky.
Also, from the other sites I have been reading about similar issues. A common symptom appears to be that the pumps will prime, but won't produce enough pressure for the engine to run. Since both of your pumps are exhibiting the same behavior, I would really suspect that the fuel pressure regulator may have failed.
The pressure regulator seems to be about $50 bucks, so if you can get your hands on a guage, it would be good to see if you are getting the proper pressure before replacing it.
I hope it's not the timing, that's a more expensive repair and if you damage anything it's way expensive. If it is the timing that's of replace the tensioner, the front seals and the water pump.
Usually if your off timing the plugs will be covered in fuel by the fuel not being able to fully burn. Usually.
