Anyone have any suggestions for removing the FX4 decals from my truck? My buddy did it and said it was a nightmare getting the adhesive off that it left behind. Thanks in advance...
You can use a hair dryer to start at an edge and gently peel back the sticker as it heats the adhesive. It's slow but will be the least abusive to your paint. After the sticker is off you can use some rubbing alcohol (I would use 90% isopropyl, the good stuff) and a clean terry cloth towel and slowly rub the adhesive to remove it. After all the adhesive is gone you can clean the area (wash the truck or use some waterless cleaner, like Meguiar's Quick Detail) then wax it to protect the paint. You can also use a heat gun to remove the sticker faster, but you risk damaging the paint if you are not careful IMO.
I see you truck is an '04. What color is your bed? I was contemplating removing my FX4 decals from my bed, but my truck is Toreador Red. After 5+ years of sun I can only assume that there will be a darker patch where the sticker would be due to the sun fade of the rest of the paint. As much as I'd like to remove them, I think a patch of a darker shade of paint would be even more unsightly.
I used a hair dryer and rubbing alcohol also . I took the whole thing off in one piece , flipped it and laid it on the back of a sheet of camo clad traced it out and then applied the clad back in the same spot on both sides. Lots of compliments. Went ahead and took more clad and wrapped side mirrors, tailgate handle , door handles , and knockout for receiver ball. Looks great and had enough camo clad left over to wrap a shotgun and .308. Don't leave the heat on 2 long.
