I'm broke down. The cast aluminum spacer between the transfercase and the transmission broke. I need to find one quick. Does anyone know if they are the same on servral years. It looks the same as on an AOD, but mine is a E40D. Would it be the same as any ford four wheel drive? Going to hunt the yards.
sounds awful tempting to try the AOD transfercase to trans mount, but only if you can not find the E4OD one. I dont know for sure but numbersdummy should not or any of the Parts guys.
What happened was my driveshaft broke and the out of balance broke the casting. This happened on the interstate 200 miles from home. I called a friend and he came and got me. Went to a hotel and got up the next day and started hunting the yards. Just when I was about to give up, some guy told me of a tranmission shop that might have one.
I got lucky!! Bolted it in on the side of the hihgway and drove home on the front wheels. Had to keep it down to 50, because the transfercase dont like the high speed. I got a locker in front which made the steering exciting. I got a drtiveshaft on order.
The whole thing cost me about two hundred. (hotel, meals, gas for my friend and of course the casting) still got to pay for the shaft. The dealer wanted $280 and 90 day wait.
