Whats your average MPG's?????

I have a 1999 with 135k on it, and I am only averaging about 12.0 mpg's around town and I don't live in a hilly area. What is eveyone else getting with their 7.3l. Also its a 4x4 crew cab with a short bed.

Thanks
Brian

I've got the same and I'm getting 14-15 right now, but my up-pipes are leaking pretty good and that will hopefully improve once that gets fixed.

I think this is a good thread that folks can refer to from time to time. Maybe folks should post if their an auto or 5 or 6 spd tranny? Also I don't know if it matters or not but will being a dually and if your a 4x4 make any diff?

I would submit to keep it in context we compare apples to apples. Include some of this in your mileage post then folks can compare those that are a better match? Just a thought.

Brian, Don't feel bad, I too was shocked when I bought my Power Stroke I was getting 13 mpg. I bought a 65 hp chip, AFE airfilter (now have a 6637 Mod filter) and 4" exhaust. that boosted my mpg to 15/16 mpg. There a buch of guys on here that are getting better than I am and can tell you how to get it.Good luck and keep us posted...

Doc.

I usualy get 14-15 driving in and out of New Haven every day (city). My truck has 4.10 gears, 6 speed, dually, long bed, quad cab. I get between 9-10 towing my travel trailer, about 9500 lbs.

I get 15-16 mixed driving city/highway, nice/not nice with the pedal... If I'm nice for a whole tank, I get about 20. But it's just no damn fun!!! 2WD CC SB, whatever the fuel is here in TX -- I assume it's summer fuel (???).

I get 10-11 in town pulling a 3-4k trailer. I have a 4 postition chip, dont know what brand. It came with the truck. Auto tranny. I upped my highway mileage to 16.5 after installing an AFE II. That is the best I have gotten. I hope to get better after I get a DP Tuner.

My 4x4 7.3 2002 Automatic got around 14 stock. With a couple of mods and a little fiddling around, it gets right around 17 now. Added bonus of 11% lower reading on my emissions test today compared to last year before mods. If I am super careful with the pedal on the freeway I can manage to eke out around 22 at best.
