thats what made me think the trany was going out. it started yesterday it was like it was slipping in OD like it would slide into OD then i tuned mine back to stock and thats when the temp come up. I thought it could not be slipping because the trans temp was not going up. but with the stock tune it went up 20 or so in no time. Thats when i said has to be the trans what did brian have to say. I ehought of getting his vb but i didnt know and when my trans **** the bed last year i had a match race in batton rouge in less than a week so i had to pull and fix and replace and get to the race . I am trying to figure out what happen. because it just started slipping in high but the other hard shift stuff may or may not be part of it it is hard to unscamble an egg thanks phil And our trucks are the same year and type and both use DP

All of this is making me extremely leery of getting a DP tuner. I have an '01 with the stock auto tranny. I really want a BTS VB and a DP tuner for towing and for fun, but I don't know if I could ever forgive myself if it cost me a transmission. Is transmission failure common with a DP tuner and BTS VB?

I don't think so. The problem is with Ford. Ford decided to stick a doide in your trans. Many 01s got it and they developed the problem. The only cure is to rebuild.

So, the DP doesn't accelerate the death of the tranny?

Yes and no. I mean, if you are going to flog it every minute, of course it will. Any tranny will wear out. OTOH, is it going to kill the trans just because you put it in, probably not. My diode locked up one month after I put the VB and Dp-Tuner 60HP Tow tune. People have gone for years before that happened. All hard to say.

Found out what my issue was. I talked to bts and he told me to try a few things and i also checked my pressure and it was good even on dead stall. It was the rear end sensor stupid thats what i thought. No flashing light, speed o works just fixed it. Shifts good and locks up good . Also with a solus /snapon scan tool had no codes.

Rear end sensor? do you me speed sensor on the trans? My trans is at the rebuild shop now for about 1 week. Should be done at the end of this week. I hope once I reinstall it its all good.

No, he means the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on the rear end I bet. It's what sends the speed signal to the PSOM, which sends it to the PCM, which tells the trans when/how hard to shift.
