Glad to hear it's working right again. Did you replace the oil pump or just the shaft?

I had to replace the pump and shaft. Wish I could show you the shaft, it was twisted like you couldn't imagine. How the pin did not break is beyond me. I was twisted around probably two or three times...I sure appreciate all of your help, you are very generous with your time and knowledge.

Thanks and God Bless
Bob

Did you open up the old pump just to see if you could figure out what happened? Sorry for the extra questions, but i'm always curious about these things.

If your ignition timing didnt change I guess youre all rught, but you might want to check the roll pin or just replace it, it may be weakened or partially broken

I picked up an 85 Merc, one of those just come and tow it away here's the title deals . It had the same problem busted oil pump drive ,stuck pump . Checked a couple of bearing they looked OK for the miles it had so I replaced the pump and the shaft buttoned it back up it ran great.

Well I did get the new oil pump in and it runs great. I did finally take apart the old oil pump and found nothing inside of it or any damage to suggest that something got stuck in it, but if you saw the shaft you would scratch your head as I did. I got the timing set today and it really runs great. I found the engine on Craigs list for $100.00, so what a deal. I wish I had done some mods to it, but wasn't sure what I had until I got it running. I can't thank you all enough for your eagerness to help others its really a good example.

Thanks Bob
