the small radiator looking thing that sits between the front grill and ac condenser... thats the evaporator core? or is it part of the transmission oil cooler? my radiator has transmission hook ups but im pretty sure the trans lines ran to evaporator core/trans oil cooloer also.
jr32560 is spot on. What your are describing is a trans cooler. Ford uses both the radiatior trans cooler and an external trans cooler on their trucks for extra cooling at least from '92-'96.

what does this part do?
thanks
What they said and the evaporator is the small radiator for the A/C that sits beside the heater core and provides the cold air for the cabin.
ok its a external trans cooler. thanks for clarifying that for me guys.
does the trans fluid go from the tranny to the external cooler first, then to the interal cooler inside the radiator?
or does it go to the internal first?
Not positive on the direction of the fluid, I just know they are in series. My guess would be it goes to the radiator cooler first then to the external cooler and back to the trans., but as stated before not positive on the direction.
