I took my 2006 F150 in for some minor work. The tech came back with a report that I need new rotors, back and front , pads and an emergency brake service. What is involved with that service? I plan on opting for 3rd party rotors, drilled and slotted and doing the installation. If the emergency brake service is not too complicated I will do it when I replace the rotors.
he could just mean that the emergency brake just needs adjusting, also, alot of the early models('04-?) had problems with the emergency brake parts rusting and sticking when you set the brake, causing the pads to drag and eventually wrecking everything. So maybe he wants to replace the bad parts with the updated parts. From what I read on here working on the emergence brake isn't that complicated.
I know this isn't helpful at all, but why didn't you just ask the tech, what do you mean by emergency brake service? Instead of just saying, and I do this too, I'll fix that myself.

I'm not sure what updated parts are in the 08's. Both of mine had to go back and get adjusted for sticking. Now it clicks when I go into reverse, and then into drive, or when I let off the gas while turning. I'll take it back on Monday unless anyone knows how to properly adjust it. I'm not going to try to take the hub off. It's a PITA.
I was told the newer linkages in the E brake assembly have more nickel in them so they don't rust as easily. I thought that the newer trucks had these updated parts in them, but I could be wrong.
