shift kit install

Okay guys I am getting ready to install my transgo kit maybe tomorrow or friday since the weather is finally suppose to warm up some. I think I have most everything I will need except for drill bits. Where in the heck do you find bits small enough to drill the plate? I have looked around town this morning and haven't came up with anything smaller than 1/16.....any ideas?

There are three different sizes according to the instuctions and they give ranges of .110 to .116 and .073 to .082 and .086 to .096 for the three holes that need to be drilled.

1/16" = .0625 so you should be using bits larger than 1/16"

A good autoparts store will have them listed by those numbers.

Which TG kit do you have? My tugger came with two bits that were right in the the range for two of the holes for the calibration plate. The third I had in my drill bit box. I think one I had to hog out a little, and I used a 3/8th bit to de-bur the holes.

I just got the HD2 not the tugger (i now wish i would have but this should do fine) it only has one bit in it....I think it's .080 or something like that. I bought one of those cheapy drill set a long time ago that has like 200 bits or something like that anyhow it has sizes down into the 64ths so I should be able to come up with something close enough to what I need.

Okay, good!! Just go for the larger side of the range for the plate holes. I went close to the top and I like the really firm shifts. But the tuning has a lot to do with it -- make sure you get your DP reburned for the tranny mods.

Yah I e-mailed Jody last week about the freedom upgrade....I guess it's on it's third redesign and they are suppose to get a beta version next week.....so hopefully it will be out soon. If not I'll just have to send it back, I've been wanting to add decel and maybe the drive thru tune also. Thanks for all the good advice guess I should figure out how to leave rep points.....maybe I'll work on that right now......Kevin

I agree. I stayed on the smaller side. The next time I change my trans filter, I'm gonna re-drill mine to firm up the shifts a little more.
