Question about scaning?

Hello all,
I am about to take my truck to school and was wondering? I am going to get it scanned to see if I can figure out why my cruise controll isnt working. My question is do I need to unplug my Dp tuner or will it be ok,
Thanks
Nick

Shouldn't be any need to disconnect the DP. I scan mine all the time with it hooked up.

You'll need to run a switch test, not just scan for codes.

Key On Engine Running (KOER) Switch (SW) Self Test

Key On Engine Running (KOER) Switch Self Test is a functional test of the PCM performed on demand with the engine running. This test is designed to set DTC(s) if the test does not detect a transition on one or more of the switches. After pressing the trigger to start the test, wait 5 seconds before running through the driver-operated controls to eliminate the chance of setting a false IVS code. The accelerator pedal must first be depressed and released to begin test, then the Parking Brake, Speed Control ON, OFF, SET, RESUME, COAST, Transmission Control or Clutch. The last to be depressed and released must be the brake pedal, which will test both the brake pressure applied (BPA) switch and the brake ON/OFF (BOO) switch.

I thought you just had all this stuff memorized Curtis. In the PC/ED section of the manual Section 2 Diagnostic Methods, there is a quick test description that gives you the procedure for several KOEO & KOER tests. Took me forever to find it, but that's how I located a faulty CPP on my truck.

It's the best mod out there. All the cool kids have one, too bad you won't be able to get one in your truck.

Actually it's the Clutch Pedal Position sensor.

That's what I get for not reading the ENTIRE manual....

Good info, I learned something new today.

Thanks every one for all your help. I did it and I pulled the these codes
1. P0605
2. P0603

Any guess to what these codes tell us? By the way I fixed the cruise control. All I did was clear all codes then tried it and it works? Go figure? lol

The cruise issue won't throw a code until you run the switch test Nick. The 2 codes you got are PCM memory codes and won't affect how the cruise works.

Because you have an intermittent failure in a switch. Mine worked on and off for a few weeks until it quit all together. You're better off running the switch test next time the cruise acts up.
