Ok guys need your help an 2 cents here. I have a 2003 PSD 250 that has been an excellent truck for me. Darn near flawless. But my next truck might be a gasser. V 10 off course. My question is anybody go from a diesel truck to a gasser. If so are you happy with what you did. Thanks guys for any input you can offer me here.
BTW ask me any questions along the way I will be looking in from time to time
I know of a couple of guys that went from diesel to either 5.4 or 6.8(V10) And they are all happy (especially the V10 owners) As an owner of a V10, all I can say is you will be extremly happy with it, hauling and towing wise. I already out pulled a 7.3 PSD with same load. There are a few fourums on here about diesel vs V10 and most everybody says the same thing, they love their V10's. Good luck.
As Kep4 asked, what do you use the current truck for? Is it a daily driver or does it get used like a truck?
I bought an 05 250 with 103K on it a few years back. V10, CC LWB. I towed my camper 5000 miles in it last summer. Had 3 sensor issues, but the powertrain has been flawless. I'd buy another V10 without hesitation.
Id pull my stock trailor once in a while but not everyday. It will be daily driver an for pulling my stock trailor on occassion. What MPG are you V 10 guys getting. Thanks guys for the input. Really helps.
I had a 2000 F-250 with a 7.3.Got the urge to buy a new truck and wasn't real crazy about the 6.0.I started reading up on the V-10 3v and said what the hell I'll give it a shot.I found a 05 F-350 and I'm very happy with it.I pull a 33' boat and it does a great job(about 11,000lbs on the trailer). The best thing is how quiet and smooth it is.I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.It has been a great truck.
Yes, i second that. If you want a V-10 you'll love it. Get a 2005+ model for the Torqshift transmission and the 3V heads. 4.10 gears if you can, although 3.73s will work OK. You will not be sorry.
I'd normally recommend a 5.4L V-8, but coming from a PSD you probably will want more torque.
Gearing will have a lot to do with it. Like reford said. For 05+ truck your choices in V10's are 4.10 or 4.30. Earlier trucks you has the same choices and also 3.73. Since you tow I would get 4.30's. There really is not one reason not to.
I have a V10 and very happy with it. I like the instant power without any turbo lag.
Biggziff i hate to burst your bubble but if you have a hybrid v10 like me you get kick *** mpg
Lol if only all roads were 6% downhill and lasted more then 8 miles lol but yea you guys hit it right on the head with mileage... I love my v10 havent had a single problem with it yet
My previous two trucks were a 2000 PSD and a 2005 PSD. I am very pleased with my V10. I probably would get 4.30 rear end if I had it to do over again. I've been averaging around 10 MPG this winter in my daily commute to work.
