hey all, i have been toying with the idea of putting 1 or 2 10" subwoofers under the back seat of my truck for a little extra punch for a while. i have a supercab BTW. i was wondering if any of you guys have any pics of your setup completed?
Where did you put that? Is it the stealth box that you have?
I bought a Qlogic truck box from Best Buy of all places. It just barely fits behind the rear seat, and it has a special cutout to fit the JL speakers (they are a bit deeper than a few others). I only have one sub, but there's room for a second if I wanted. Right now, I have more bass than I need.
I can pics tomorrow for you... i have a probox (i think thats the name).... i'll get some pics up though.
I used to sell Probox back in the day. I dont think they make the model for the 99-03 250/350s anymore unfortunately.
I would go for the center console deal posted above if they had better pics. If you have an extended cab only there is just about only 1 place to put them for a box made on a mass scale...and thats under the rear folding seat, taking up valuable room IMO. My .02
Nothing is involved really in the extended cab. Reach under the actual back (the crack at seat and back) and lift up! Theres maybe 6 inches when you have seats back and even less when the seat is installed. I never messed with it once I saw the lack of space.
I will say that the SD trucks are a bear to install subs in (behind the rear seat anyway). I had the same speakers/box in my 95 CC and had to make the box about 2/3 the size AND redrill the rear seat mounting holes. The rear seat in the 95 was adjustable.
I built a box for my brother's truck too and he had a little more room due to speaker brand. What Curtis said is true...the JLs are a bit deeper than most other subwoofers and box design (just to make them fit) is crucial.
hmm, i think i might get some dimensions and have a friend try and build a box for me, i will probably run to of these (10") MTX Car Audio Superwoofers under the rear seat.
