hey all.
i recently had a tree run out and hit me... i need a new bumper, valance, grill, hood, headlights, tranny oil cooler, ac condenser, radiator, pass mirror, radiator core, and fan shroud.
the truck is a 1996 F250 xlt w/ 7.5 460.
i went to the junk yard a couple weeks ago and the man told me the 1991 F250 he had there would work. wrong. i finally got everything off yesterday and low and behold.. nothing fit. the rad core was really wrong... it had the wrong cutouts for the lights,, hood wasnt even close,, radiator was backwards.. and so on.
my question is, what years and makes are compatible with my truck? is there an online resource that could list them all? so i dont have to spend a week in the junkyard looking at every truck they have.
thanks. jake.
atccracing: so you are suggesting going through LMC and looking up each part to see what years go with my 96... good idea thanks
no 4020farmboy, i dont need fenders thankfully
also my truck is an xlt... what is the difference?? different exterior trim and slightly different interior? i wanna be sure i can match as much as possible.
What I was getting at is the swap will not work with your 96 front fenders you need to use the 91 fenders for everything else to work.
XLT is just chrome instead of black plastic grill and light frames and your bumper has molding.
Years that will fit perfectly are 92-97. If you go with an 87-91 year front end, you will NEED to buy ALL of this at once, it will make your front clip look like this:
hood
fenders
core support
grille
headlights
turns
rocker panel
bumper
The 2 front clips will both bolt up to your frame and cab, but the parts are not interchangable between the 2 groups of years
ok thanks guys.
i went back to the junkyard yesterday and picked everything off a 92 bronco xlt. the rad core was rusted out around the bottom 2 bolts (the ones that have the cab mount rubbers) but i figured with the 3 or 4 bolts on either side its still rock solid. i might cut those parts off my old rad core and replace them.
