The Cortex is overpriced for what it is and doesn't have the capabilites of the SCT XCal2 or XCal3 and Diablosport tuners. Stay with SCT or Diablosport. Just because a tuner is advertised more doesn't mean it is better.
This is very true. I was on there website pokin' around and was reading other peoples opinions. Now i know the website won't be placing negitive responces on there pages . But i figured FTE would be better on the opinion side .
Thanks for the post and i can't wait to hear what you have to say.
I see you have a Banks Powerpack in your list. hows that working for you?
I also have a 2003 XLT but mines Black
2003 F-350 XLT FX4 V10 SUPERCAB
I purchased this truck new and I put the Banks kit on after about a year. The truck had about 25K miles or so on it. Overall I really like the results. All Banks stuff is super high quality. Like the old saying goes "you get what you pay for". The install was easy and straight forward.....just time consuming. I took we two full day from start to finish.
I HATED the Banks muffler. It sounds terrible on a V10. I swaped that out for a Flowmaster 70 series. MUCH better. I had to modify the Banks pipes for the Flowmaster to work. It came out decent.
The Banks kits pays off with towing and higher rpm's. Anything above 3K rpm and the truck just screams.
One draw back to stainless headers is how thin the steel is. You always can hear the exhaust pulses rushing through the pipe while the engine is under load. It kinda sounds like a exhaust leak but there is now leak. That is why the old cast iron manifold were just that....cast iron for durability and shhhh....quiet.
Very nice. I kept the manifolds and did dual 2.5 pipe with x2 40series delta flow and spiral flow mufflers. It was just the flowmasters but above 2k rpm it sounded like a the ultra mega ricer from Hell so I added the spirals and I can't be happier about the sound now. haha.
Im the second owner of my truck and bought it last August with 21k miles on it and now im at 28k.
