Still on schedule. Bout 1/2 loaded. Have a bunch of inside stuff ta do this afternoon packing clothes, cookin stuff, puter stuff an such. If the weather holds off I can do a bit of loadin this evening. If not I should be able to get it in the mornin. Need ta dig out the spare tents ta set up to reserve spots fer folks.
Didn't get out yeasterday but doin good this mornin. Took 45 minutes to do the final load this mornin. Everything cept me, my ice chest, cell phone and puter that is. Gonna cool down a bit. Have breakfast. Take a shower and then pack the ice chest. Swing by the bank and get some ice on the way out. Should be on the road about 9:00. Tonight I plan to be in Walsenburg. Tomorrow in Lake City.
I'm not lookin forward ta the mountians much. They been too hard on me in the past. Might just set at the park in town and read some. But I have a couple extra tents and will try to hold down a few spots for others that will be there saturday. Then wednesday a couple of us head south when the main group goes home. Gonna be hot down that way I'm thinkin. Not sure when I'll be back.
K. Bout this cool weather thing. I went through Syracuse and the sign said 103 at 1:44 this afternoon. It was a dry heat and did not bother me much. Green was running a bit warm with the AC on and I turned it off to cool the engine before I stoped in LaMar. Then it started up rough. Tried to clear it out but it just got worse and wouldn't start. Found a shop but they were too busy to work on it. So I went back and tried to start it again after leaving the hood open for a while. It started rough again but this time I was able to run the rpms up to 1200 and it cleared out after a while. So I left the AC off to La Junta. Me seat is soaked. The top of my hands are burnt from the sun through the windshield. But it ran cooler. Finally had to turn the AC on for a bit. Then ran into some clouds and a bit of rain. Then Green just stoped pulling. Pushed on the gas and nothing. After a while it worked. The cel came on. It did it again with the cel coming on. Then I put it down a gear to run some more rps and suck more fuel to cool what ever was acting up. That may have helped o my not as it did it several more times with out the cel coming on.
But I made it to Walsenburg. Gonna see if there is someone in town to look at it tomorrow.
I've had trouble with Green wheeling since I bought it. Out in Colorado when I work it hard climbing I would get a toxic fuel smell. Then if I shut it off it would start up rough and take a while to clear out. Like a carb motor loading up with fuel and almost flooding itself out. I have had the fuel pump replaced. That did not make a difference. Had a vapor celenoid replaced. Still no change. I would get a little smell at home on hot days and a minor rough start up from time to time but nothing like this. Seems to be fuel related but I have no idea what it is. The fuel pump I took out was put in another RBV and worked fine. Just hate to keep replaciing good parts. Hope it's bad enough to find now. I've had it in the shop several time. It only happens when I push it hard and it runs hot. Fuel preasure regulator mabe? Vapor canister or some emissions thing? I don't mind paying a fair price for a repair. But I hate hate hate to spend money to replace a good part. Filter has been changed several times I think. Fuel system serviced several times. Injector cleaner in the tank every oil change.
I changed the oil before I went to Utah and drove Jr. all the time to get miles on it. Clint said he is smelling oil though. Maybe I have a leek and I'm going to check the oil. Could be the oil level is low and when I hit the hills the low oil sensor was shutting down the engine.
Sounds like Troy has the same problem only his is doing in KS what mine did in CO today.
Wow that sucks. My daughter had a rough idle and CEL in her winstar and it took a bunch of stuff to track it down. Replaced plugs, wires, got rid of K&N air filter, two different MAFs and a bunch of other things. Seem to finally be OK after the 2nd MAF. They can be a real bugger to find when you have a gremlin.
