Pirelli Tire unusal cupping

Got 1000 miles on the 2008 f-150 s/crew and had the tires checked for balance due to the shaking. We noticed that the frt. tires are showing signs of cupping. 22's with Pirelli Tire 2 wheel drive. I have had this problem on the 2004/2005 but don't remember what was causing it. These tires cost to much to play with. Any resoning for this?

Improper inflation???? There's nothing I hate more than a brand new vehicle with tire problems. When my wife's Matrix was 2 weeks old I was already fighting with Continental. The absolute biggest crap tires this side of the Erie Canal. Finally I just went to sears auto and went for $750 Michellins and sold the other ones at a garage sale. I had Pirelli's on my son's car and they were excellent, so who knows.

cup

Come to think of it that was what I did on the 04 and 05 was change to Michellins. Well, I caught this early enough that all my still be good. These tires are good tires and I think the daeler is going to take care of me on this. I paid enough for this HARLEY and the dealer owes me on a mistake on the sale, so I believe all will work out. On the o4 they put new tires on it after the fact and I PAID THE DIFFERENCE on the tires. I would hate to see the price of a 22" michellin, if they even make one. Time will tell. Thanks for the reply.

Have you had the alignment checked? It sounds like tow after just a thousand miles.

Back in the day, tire cupping always seemed to be from bad or worn out shocks. An underinflated tire usually wears out on the outside edges, but smoothly.

Yes

My thoughts exactly. There on the back now. Once the Troyer upgrade is installed I will give it a try. The truck is new with little miles on it so shouldn't be the shocks. I had checked the air psi and was the pressure on the door. Ford is going to get the front end checked this week. The dealer I got the truck from can't align the thing due to the wheels. Was lucky they could balance the 22's

I got my F150 with 3500m on it. Decided to pull the rear shocks, drivers side went down so fast I almost tweaked my back when i pushed on it. New vehicles usually have the cheapest junk they can get buy with. Also had this happen with a Pontiac car. Junk shock right off the gitgo.

If it's a 4X4, I'd make sure that one hub isn't engaged. that'll cup a tire pretty quick.
