i have two F150s. a 1981 4x4 and a 1995 Eddie Bauer. My 4x4 is having a brake issue, it has brake pressure while in park but when I put it in drive i lose complete brake pressure. it is driving me crazy. anyone got any ideas
well heres what happens, i start the truck, i have good brake pressure, as soon as i put it into drive i lose all pressure and the pedal goes to the floor
i'm thinking its going to be my brake booster, i've looked at all my lines and hoses and don't see a leek anywhere. and when i start the truck it runs good its just crazy
That`s a good one. However, other than perhaps a broken actuating rod, a faulty booster never caused a brake pedal to go to the floor. The pedal going to the floor is caused by a leaking hard or flexi pipe, leaking wheel cylinders or calipers, fluid leaking past the seals in the master cylinder or even badly out of adjustment shoes, or air in the system.
The odd thing in your case is when it happens. I can only think that you have a vacuum leak and you are not leaving it long enough in Park for vacuum to build up but when it does, after you shift to Drive, the booster then works and because of the other fault, the pedal goes to the floor.
Hope this helps.
