Hello,
I have been looking into getting the Gibson Swept side exhaust system for my 95 F-150 4.9 L 300/6. Does anyone have this system for this motor and if so how does it sound? I want something with a deep mellow tone but,and not too loud.
Thanks, Larry
I just put one on a 351. I'll post a topic about that soon. But it sounds a little louder than stock. Meaning you can't tell the difference at idle, I have some resonace at 2,000 RPM and with the windows up you can't hear anything at all. With the windows down, you can hear just a little bit louder rumble, but not nearlt enough to get everybody to turn their heads. IMO this is the quietest performance exhaust out there. And yes it does increase performance, more on this later.

I too, get some resonance in the cab at around 2000, but it's not bad. Unlike our friend I can hear it some with the windows up. Any performance exhaust is going to be louder, I believe, you will get a noticeable boost in torque and hp, not a ton but it's definitely there. They are pricey, if you're not going to have the truck a long long time go with aluminized steel instead of stainless, you'll save some money that way, Gibson offers both. You might want to check into Borla too. Also good quality, probably a little louder. If you shop on line be sure to stay away from coolwheels.com. I won't go into details but they were terrible to deal with. Enjoy!
I just installed (yesterday) that system on my 93 F150 super cab.
It sounds GREAT. Not loud. Just a much deeper mellow tone. I can only hear it slightly with the windows up but not anymore than the stock system. I took it out to my "test strip" and found I had 10 more horses now and a 1/4 mile improvement of just under 1 second. I'm sold!
