annoyed again after fill up
it happened again, i filled my truck up last nite, i was driving on the rear tank and the gauge was on the "E" but i was still driving so we know i had fuel in the tank. my rear tank is an 18 gallon unit so explain to me how i still had fuel in it but put 19.87 gallons in it......grrrrrrr. total top off according to the pump was 38.29 gallons. meanig i put 18.42 gallons in the front. and the front tank was slightly above the "E" but not by much. this is a different station then the one that this happened to me at last time but it seems to be getting more frequent of a problem. if i have a 37 gallon system from dry to filled then how am i filling it with 38 gallons? HA!! even the stations are screwing us over

SOB!!! Joe
Its been a growing problem.
Also another strange thing is the fuel seems to be burning
cooler this year from some stations. They have to be cutting
the fuel with something for profits. Just still unknown.
I have seen idle egt's in the low 200's this year.
I have never seen it that low!

a lot of stations have figured out the profit margine over the fine for incorect pumps and take the chance on not getting fined for meters being off. I was shocked when I put 19.5 gallons in the stock rear tank of my short bed F250. in the last 4 years I have never gotten more than 15.8 in the rear tank and that is running out on flat land.

i think a phone call may be in order, and the same goes for the junk yard i just hauled scrap to, they claim that a washing machine, dryer, two 300 gallon steel tanks, a steel snow blower with mount for a lawnmower, several large junks of steel plate and a riding lawnmower only weighs 450 pounds. after the fill up incident i was irate, then they write me a check for 23.85...... when i called them up steel was 7 bucks per 100, mysteriously an hour later it tanked..... talk about a bad weekend, and to top it off my back is killing me since i had noone here to help load anything. the wife cant lift much and i got irritated with her trying to lift stuff so in my stupidity i ended up carrying the washer through the house by my self and lifting it up and into my truck alone. same thing with the water tanks..... she couldnt get a hold of them since they are rounded so i ended up bear hugging them and walking up out of the basement. i felt fine till after the `15 minute ride to the scrap yard and i tried to get out of the truck.........
sorry having to vent a little to keep sanity

Usually the scrap yards have a price for clean steel and another for "Dirty" steel (steel mixed with plastic and such) which the washer would fall in, also if one item is mixed in with a bunch of clean steel they give you the money as if it all is "Dirty."

Take a 5 gallon bucket to that station and fill it up, have the station manager there to see that it shows pumping more than 5 gallons, then proceed to shove the whole thing up his yoohoo.
My cousing did this (except for the shoving part.) Turns out their tank was getting low and was only pumping foam. Still registers on the meter but not in the tank.
It showed having pumped 8 gallons into a 5 gallon bucket.
They can't argue with that...

i dont usually get mad if i put 17.9 or 18 gallons in the front tank, i always run onthe ft tank first so i run it really low, but over 19? come on.
i was on dzljim's website and have been contemplating doing the bronco tank mod next, cant decide if i want to keep the front tank or do what he did and delete it and build a custom fuel system........

nothing wrong with that 97HD
I've noticed pumps doing that for years, even after they have been checked.
You just have to go in there and tweak things. Noticed it long ago on my little tempo, that thing only had a 15 or 16 gallon tank in it, constantly put in 19 wherever I went too. That was when fuel was only 1.20-1.30
I think i have the 18 in my truck, but i know i usually have 2 or 3 gallons in there when i fill up and i constantly get up to 19-20 gallons, or even 18 on the pumps, when the needle is not past E, i know i got a good 20-30 miles to go, thats about 2-3 gallons. I average 10-12 MPG.
So. How am i getting 18-20 gallons in with 2 to 3 in the tank?
Yea, bunch of crap. And I don't buy the foam excuse.
The gas cans always seem to fill up right. *shrugs*
The whole fuel industry is a crock.
As for the cooler fuel, I wouldn't know yet. But i imagine they are mixing in bio or something. The lower sulfur could also be causing it?
