I have a 1997 F-150 xlt with A 4.2L V6. Sometimes when I crank it, hot or cold, it kind of half starts. It almost sounds like dieseling but not quite. It kind of chugs for a couple of seconds and then will pick up and run normally or it may even stall. Can anyone give me a suggestion to solve this problem.
If anyone else has this problem with their Ford
F-150, the problem seems to be the ignition coil pack. I replaced it myself and the problems seem to be gone. The coil pack is a fully intergrated electronic system with an onboard diagnostic system. Just about everything for running the engine is controlled from there. The cost was only about $63.00.
