64 ford 4x4
need some help im trying to find some info on power steering.ihave 64 4x4with a 390 engine i want to install power steering. can this be done with over the counter parts or used parts. thanx brian

64 uses the Gemmer Box in a 4x4 application.
There is no bolt on ore easy application as the Gemmer like the ford box is integral shaft type, meaning the box and shaft are one piece from the box to the steering wheel.
Successful swaps have been made with the use of a mid eighties Toyota 4x4 box partial Pittman arm and modifications to the steering shaft and column.
Each requires fabrication skills and the Pittman needs welding skill to do.

im in the same boat i also have a 64 4x4 and ive been told a newer ford 2wd box will work if you reverse the arm benchworks.com has a kit pretty pricey though. Even when you solve the box problem u have to figure out what to do about a steering column. Keep me updated on what you decide to do and how you do it.
