Exactly what I was thinking Ryan. Chris and I talked about this last week and agreed we'd find a used one and put it on the band saw and cut it apart. If Joe has already done that and will show us some pics then it could save me some hunting for free used pieces.

I still say that an improved Banks approach is the way to go! Here's some diagrams and pics of the engine part, and I'd say to split this piece into two parts so you can use straighter runs to the engine and join those together with a "Y" going to the cold end of the IC.

Here's some diagrams and pics of the turbo part, and this is where you should install the MAP sensor so that it reads a higher value sooner to add the fuel quicker for faster spool up of the turbo!

I think someone could fabricate a prototype and test it, and then go into production and sell them.

I will try and get some pictures this weekend of the one I just cut apart. I am sure you could save the hot side if you wanted, I just start cutting some relief cuts in it when I cut them... Here is the finished product...

I have a port on the Hot side of the IC tube... I will move my Map sensor there ASAP and see if I notice anything.

It won't increase your "steady state maximum HP" but Jody said he noticed a SOP increase in his throttle response.

I have a bit of lag due to a TC that is too tight... Might help with that. I should be able to swap it tomarrow.

You sold me with this comment. Correct me if I'm wrong, but move the thicker line (where a boost fooler would go) into the hot IC tube and this will create the situation you are describing??

Also subscribing for the info. Gene, i love your formulas and such... when i get done with undergrad and into engineering and then diesel tech school, i hope for you to be one of my mentors lol.

That looks pretty dang good!! If you could get another one cheap, use one for the hot and one for the cold sides.

Dumb question, but what is SOP?

I copied Kris and drilled/tapped my hot side for my MAP sensor line. Haven't driven the truck much since and when I did the roads where horrible, so I don't have any good results to share.

Right now I'm working on the "heat transfer" issue, and then I'll take a stab at the "flows more" issue. However both issues are actually interrelated because if the "heat transfer" of the improved spider vs the OEM spider is less the MAT is reduced for a given VAF ft^3/min and this in turn increases the AD=Air Density lb/ft^3 and therefore the MAF={(AD)(VAF)} lb/min into the cylinders.

On the other hand if the improved spider vs the OEM spider has less PD=Pressure Difference psi for a given VAF ft^3/min this increases the MAP psi which in turn increases the AD lb/ft^3 and therefore the MAF={(AD)(VAF)} lb/min into the cylinders. So the improved spider can potentially increase the MAF by deceasing the MAT and/or by increasing the MAP.

To make more HP you need to increase the MAF into the cylinders and then add more fuel. If you just increase the MAF into the cylinders without adding more fuel you might still get a tad more HP due to the enhanced combustion of the same amount of fuel, and you'll also get lower EGT because the additional air mass filling the cylinder gives more total "heat capacity" for absorbing heat ENERGY from the fuel at a lower CAT=Cylinder Air Temperature.

Its not that I didn't understand the whole touching the stove part it was all the math stuff. I have no clue on all your mathamatics eqations stuff.
