i have a 94 f150 whenever i start it the idle goes up and down and the voltage gauge does the same , sometime it evens out sometimes it quits, i have repleced the battery and altinator and it got worse...
Does the idle ever smooth out? My 93 does the same thing sometimes, idle goes up and down, etc. If the idle goes low enough, the voltmeter dips down too.
I think your problem with voltage is more due to the idle issue than anything. I'm unsure what my problem is, I'm living with it until I get the time to check things out. I am leaning toward the IAC, and I also have an EGR code that may be causing a vacuum leak and messing up my idle.
Any codes from the computer? It may be worth checking the IAC (or IAB, this thing has been called a bunch of things over the years). Here is a link to fordfuelinjection.com that details IAC operation, testing, and cleaning: Ford Fuel Injection Idle Air Bypass (IAB)
There is a bunch of other really useful knowledge on there too, for troubleshooting and repair. It's an excellent site!
