Hello everyone! Last night i was driving home from picking up a snowmobile and hit a dog doing about 40 mph. It bent my bumper right below the driver side fog light and the plastic on it and the valance?? below the bumper. Anyway i have no parking lights no fog lights no tail lights and no lights inside my cab. i checked some fuses but look good is there maybe a fuse under the hood that went?? and help would be great and if anyone has parts that would be great too! Thanks to all! Chris
all coolers are fine i checked that instantly its about a finger with away right now and the fog light bent some fins but its all good. i guess i just run through every fuse on the truck and test wires and what not lol o this will be fun
thats what i wanted to know????????
btw if the bumper is bent i dont think poor dog had to many chances....
but people are to be blamed for this, they take dogs and after they no longer playful they throw them away like toy . fuc**rs...

You're right man, people think awww puppies are so cute. Yeah ok no the dog is 80lbs and all of the sudden it isn't cute anymore and gets the boot. So F-ed up....
Maybe the dog accidentally got out? I'm a little worried about the dog's owners. I'd be inconsolable if my Mattie got out and got hit.
i agree, i have a dog also and he "is, my best friend". i can't believe this guy tells his story without mentioning the condition of the dog. i assume the worst but still,

Ah man, if my Reilly got out and got hit, i would be devastated. I wouldn't know what to do! He really is like my best friend, will always be loyal to you...

Responded to a dog call today. Dog hit on road, citizen moves off road, calls police and leaves. I get there, because we cannot refuse to go, even if to say we can do nothing. Dog looks like on last breaths. Call street department to come and get him. Dog must have been unconscious, starts to come to. Concerned citizens begin to gather as I drag the dog away from the roadside to prevent another accident. Great dog by the way, most try to bite you when they are injured this badly.
Now I get the business, he's suffering, why don't you do something? I explain to them we don't put down injured dogs, deer, or whatever to prevent suffering, just vicious animals or threats to public safety. I now have animal control on the way to take over. Joe citizen wants to take the dog to the vet now. I tell him he cannot since animal control is on the way.
Animal control arrives and I relinquish this mess. Short story too late, Joe citizen convinces animal control to transport the dog to the vet where he will meet them and assume responsibility for the dog. I don't know what happened after that.
What I do know is that there is something way wrong in our world today. I have seen people get hit by cars with less fanfare. I love my dog folks, but this is getting ridiculous. I have never seen such bunk over a person, and that is wrong.
I am no veterinary specialist, but my estimate, along with the animal control guy was that the dog was more than likely mortally injured. Yet, here's a guy wanting to pay the vet bill for this sheppard chow mix.
Meanwhile folks go hungry, lose their homes, oh well you get the picture. It is people, go figure. Sometimes I hate my job because I cannot tell folks where to go.

It's easier to get attached to a dog since there are no repercussions Mike. Odds are that same individual would have balked at the vet bill if the vet had agreed to take the dog into emergency surgery and quoted a ballpark price up front.
Besides, things today are all about right now, not about the big picture. If you deal with the public in your job, you're bound to disappoint them. In your case, you're either a bad guy for not letting someone slide, or a bad person for not doing enough. When was the last time John Q. Public thanked you for what you do? You're in a no win situation here.

By the way, thanks for what you do.
Thanks Chris. I actually do not have it that bad. I have folks thank me for booking them into jail just because I treat them right. I do get thanks from folks a lot.
I treat criminals how they need to be treated. There are some folks that are just unreasonable. Not all of them are criminals either.
