ok guys, my truck is not starting. Its cranking fine just not starting. I tried taking my ts chip out and no change. still not starting. any help would be greatly appresiated. hopefully its somthing simple, hopefully.
I just tried unpluging the the ICP and nodda, I'm at a loss, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
That narrows it down so that it's not the ICP sensor. Next step would be the IPR, and that's where the scan tool is handy to track oil pressures during cranking.
I'm about to go outside and look at the truck again. I don't have a scanner that can read pressures or anything like that. Last night was so strange, the truck was running fine then had an odd sound when it was idleing, and seemed like it had a loss of power. Let the truck sit for a while and went out to start it and it would crank and crank but not start. Tried to start it once again and it fired up, but still had an odd idle so I shut it off. Tried to start it again and it never started. I've checked the oil, I can hear the fuel pump running. All the gauges seem to work as the should. Hopefully I'll have better luck this morning. I'll report back shortly, thanks for the help guys.
Well, one thing to help narrow it down. Using your code reader, clear all codes. Next, make sure your batteries are charged up. Now, crank the truck for a minimum of 10 seconds solid. Hook your scanner back up and see what new codes pop up. That's one way to help narrow things down a bit.
The reason for this test is that certain codes require a time frame before triggering. For instance, the infamous P1211 code requires 8 full seconds of a low or high oil pressure condition seen before any code is triggered. CPS codes also in some cases require a few seconds before the problem is "detected" by the PCM and a code is triggered.
