Honestly, I don't think it would have mattered if he brought the Holy Father in to be his defense witness... the tide was clearly against him, and there was no way that the legislature was NOT going to toss him out on his... helmut. Going on his little media tour was'nt going to do any harm, really... it may not have done any good, but neither was presenting any sort of defense.
Anybody besides me think he'll somehow manage to escape jail for all this?
If he was innocent as he claims to be, he should have attended the impeachment and defended himself. Instead he tours the talk show circuit crying innocent victim. He reminds me of O.J. golfing and looking for the "real killer."
Scott, I think you hit the nail right on the head.
I'm not defending this guy, but I'm still questioning the process.
The article says that they busted him due to the allegations and his governing style. It does not say that it was due to the evidence in those allegations. Yes, I know that they have tapes, but the conversations I've heard were not that straightforward. The guy is a politician.
Assuming that the original article is accurate, it might have been better if they would have appointed the Lt Gov in charge pending the outcome of the trial. The allegations are certainly serious enough to do something like that.
