I had them on my 08 FX 4. They were great. The slpit mirrow was an advantage when towing.

They are not pwr fold nor do they have the outer clearence light like the SD. They are available with Power mirror, signal, heat and puddle light and manual extend and manual forward - backward fold.

I saw these on Ebay so you might be able to get them cheap. There is about 10 1/2 hours left now.

I like them but I think I am going to order them on my truck. I want the 3.73 gears.

The regular power fold Platinum mirrors are probably pretty expensive, like $400 I'm guessing. But then you could always resell your tow mirrors for some decent bucks too. Try emailing an online Ford discount parts dealer, like www.tascafordparts.com

Let us know if you do this swap. I'm curious to see if the power fold feature will work on your Platinum if you switch back to the regular powerfold mirrors. Hopefully the truck is already pre-wired with the power folding relay and everything. If I get a new truck, I'd want the 3.73 gears but don't like the big tow mirrors, so I would change them back to the regular mirrors myself.

To each his own on appearance but I have to say that after driving in interstate rush- hour traffic for years in my 2000 and only having the little stick-on blindspot mirrors the functionality of these tow mirrors is just what the doctor ordered. I can see a clear picture of a car in my blindspot at a mere glance. That is value add even without towing. The look takes some getting used to but for me the functionality makes it worthwhile regardless, especially given the hieght of the tailgate on the newer models.

I also find it interesting to notice how many trucks, especially F-150's, have the little stick-on blindspot mirrors when going down the road.
