Starter ?

well my starter fried on me at 2am in -10 temp Sunday night...damn it was cold

well...I am looking at two different ones to order and need some feedback....

this is a high torque and has only the two mounting holes(the one I would rather have)

I'm on my third NAPA starter since Sept...I'll get the dbelectric reduction unit soon...damn its cold out there!!!

Not that I'm aware of ,,haven't heard any problems with them coming loose ...

FWIW I tried a Napa high torque two bolt starter and went through 2 in under 6 month. they kept shearing the drive off. Went back to the standard inline gear reduction starter 9the second one you linked) and it works like a champ. Now the DB offers great products from what I understand but I am a bit leary of the off set gear reduction units now.

Yeah, but they came from Crapa

Your truck has too much HP ...

True on both accounts!

I told Napa I wanted a refund! They weren't too impressed with that so they just gave me the other style starter!

ordered the high torque one.....should be here Monday.....guess we will see how it goes.....going to have to tarp the truck and throw the heater in there for a bit before I work on it

It was 150.00 shipped to the door and its new...local parts store wants 245.00 for a reman HT in stock....I hate taking business away from a small town but thats a no brainer....and I have heard alot of good things about DB electrical
