The top pictured y-pipe is thought to have a better flow to it so there is possibly better performance but no one has even been able to prove/disprove this with numbers vs the bottom pictured y-pipe. If you do headers and intake it seems others have found an eBay y-pipe a good combo with these upgrades. I don't know if anyone has said if the top pictured pipe will perform the same with the same header/intake combo. I already have headers and may look into a Volant intake this summer. An eBay y-pipe will propbably be my last upgrade. I am curious to see if it will make any difference.

The bottom pictured y-pipe was to reduce flutter from the previous design. This was the main reason for the design change as far as I know. Others may know if there was additional reasons.
The 2005+ went to a 3V engine with a different exhaust design. I am not sure what the y-pipe looks like on these engines.

so i should get an aftermarket ypipe horn then? and monster-4.i just pulled a k&n intake off a 6.8l v10.full system.got it for 125 and then my volant came in the mail too.so i put the volant on but if you want the k&n ill give it to you for what i got it(125) and plus to ship it to you.all the parts are there and jut the filter needs to be cleaned a little
