I was pulling a load of hay yesterday and couldnt keep my egts down and only got 5 mpg at 65 mph. I usualy run about 6 on my egts loaded and was runnen close to 11 not cool. Also i only got 5 mpg wich didnt fly ether usualy around 17mpg. Had a clean air filter running on the 80 hp setting on an edge evilution programer and a clean fuel filter. Any ideas on what to change? Im at a loss
One thing I wont do, is tow a load in 80 hp tune. My EGT would be way up there. Normal towing in my truck, I will see more then 600* EGT. Have you tried a lower hp tune? As said, check all your boots to make sure you don't have leaks.
Would the boots being loose cause the sudden fuel mileage decrease as well? Normally I tow on 100 hp tune or 80 hp depending on the load and haven't ever had any problems before and i wasn't that heavy compared to usual.
Restriction in the air cleaner! Leaks in the air to air cooler or boots! Hay or bugs lodged in the air to air restricting air flow! Exhaust stinger or gauge problem.Exhaust side of turbo fin damaged from excessive heat. All of these can cause high exhaust temps.
