hi guys, i'm kinda new at this [computer and 55 truck] but i have another question to put to you guys. when i bought my truck it had 8 large chrome button head bolts across upper part of grill. the guy told me it was stock for all 6 cyl. fords along with the chrome star in the middle. but all the pictures i've seen of 55s i haven't seen any on them. iv' taken them out and painted smaller ones white to match grille and you can't notice them as much. anybody out there know for sure? thanks don

Welcome to FTE
Old saying: Button, button, who's got a button?
Not any 1955 Ford truck grille!
The Custom Cabs had a right and left hockey stick shaped chrome moulding on the upper half of the grille bar.
There were 4 holes on each side used for the clips to retain the mouldings.
Back in the 1950's, customizers were installing all sorts of custom mesh grilles in cars/trucks, and then used kitchen, desk or cabinet DRAWER ***** for ornamentation (I kid you not!).
My guess is, someone removed the chrome strips, added the chrome bolts (which could be chrome ***** off a dental cabinet, or?) to fill the holes.
hi bill, your reply makes sense, it is a custom cab, maby i can find some after market chrome moulding somewhere, this truck is all stock except the 12v alt. and i would like to get her back that way. thanks for your reply, don

You can purchase new chrome "hockey sticks" or gull wings as some people call them. They are fairly expensive. You may also be able to pick up a set if you look around on this forum. I just removed mine but one broke in the process. I don't intend on putting them back on though as I prefer them without. Good luck.
Saltwtrduck, I have a new set still in the box that I bought from Bob Drake and changed my mind about using them. Iif you are interested, you can contact me with pm email.
I have an old pair of wings it you want them... not perfect shape but pretty good.
keith 56 ,how much you want for them, they don't have to be perfect, i may not like the way they look on her, so i would rather try out some used ones. thanks, don
